This time of year, we need quick recipes that taste great and can be served with a drink or just a versatile and easy dish which can be a starter or part of your buffet table, these kebabs ticks all the boxes for speed, convenience and you can even prepare ahead and cook at the last minute.

A mint and cucumber dip is perfect to accompany lamb kebabs.

I switch the lamb for beef, this recipe works well for either.

If serving with drinks, I will shape them into teaspoon size balls.

If wrapping into a naan, a sausage shape is best.

If serving as a burger in a bap, shape as that.

Remember, this is a versatile recipe, so please experiment with it.

Ingredients

  • 500 Grams
    Minced lamb or beef
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1 inch of ginger, grated
  • 2 Teaspoons
    garam masala
  • 1 onion, grated
  • 1 Teaspoon
chilli flakes or 1 fresh chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons
    coriander, washed and chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon
    Salt
  • 2 Tablespoons
    Cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Carefully measure all the ingredients into a large mixing bowl.

  2. Mix the mince together well, use your hands and combine well for an evenly spiced mixture.

You can keep the kebab mix covered, in the fridge until ready to cook or shape the mix, chill and cook when ready.

  3. You can shape the kebabs into any size you choose, please see the note above.

  4. The shaped kebabs can be cooked in a grill, barbecue or fried in a frying pan.

Ensure the kebabs are cooked through, they take about 5-6 minutes per side.

Enjoy with salad, a yoghurt dip, some naan, or simply on their own.
